Your first visit starts with listening

Your first appointment is a dedicated time to understand what brings you in, review your health history, and create a care plan that feels realistic and personalized. Whether you are seeking support for pain, stress, migraines, sleep, digestive concerns, fertility, or another health goal, we want you to feel informed and comfortable from the start.

What to Expect

Your first appointment includes time to talk through your health history, current symptoms, daily routines, and treatment goals. We will discuss what you would like support with and create an individualized plan based on your needs. After your consultation, you will receive an acupuncture treatment. Many patients find treatment deeply relaxing, and you are welcome to ask questions at any point during your visit.

Preparing for Your Visit

Once your appointment is scheduled, you will automatically receive an email with your new-patient intake form. Please complete these form before your appointment so we can be prepared for your visit and make the most of your time in the clinic. If you plan to use insurance, please check your acupuncture benefits with your insurance company before your appointment. You are responsible for understanding your individual benefits and for any charges not covered by your insurance.

Your Treatment Plan

Your care plan is based on your health history, goals, symptoms, and how your body responds over time. Some concerns may benefit from a series of visits closer together at first, while others may need less frequent care. We will explain our recommendations, answer your questions, and adjust your plan as needed. Our goal is to provide clear guidance while supporting you in making choices that feel right for you.

Insurance information patients should know

Before your first appointment, please provide your current insurance information through your intake forms or contact us with a clear photo of the front and back of your insurance card. We will do our best to verify your benefits before treatment, but verification is not a guarantee of payment by your insurance company.

We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Allegiance, Pacific Source, VA-Triwest, Cigna, and Aetna. For other insurances, we can provide a superbill for potential reimbursement. Please verify your acupuncture benefits before your first visit to help prevent unexpected costs.

What your plan may include

Your acupuncture benefits may depend on your specific plan and can vary based on:

  • Whether acupuncture is a covered benefit

  • The number of visits allowed each year

  • Your deductible, copay, or coinsurance

  • Whether a referral or prior authorization is required

  • Whether coverage applies only to certain diagnoses or providers

  • Whether your plan considers our clinic in-network or out-of-network

Your financial responsibility

You are responsible for all charges not paid by your insurance plan, including deductibles, copays, coinsurance, non-covered services, missed appointments, and balances resulting from denied claims.

If benefits cannot be verified before your visit, payment may be due at the time of service. If your insurance later pays for covered care, we will apply that payment to your account according to your plan benefits.

Questions about coverage?

The most accurate source for your benefits is your insurance company. Call the member-services number on the back of your card and ask specifically about acupuncture coverage, visit limits, deductible status, copay or coinsurance, referral requirements, prior authorization, and whether Missoula Acupuncture is covered under your plan.

We are always glad to help explain the information you receive and answer questions about our office policies.
